What is 'Missing Rate' warning?

Modified on Mon, 29 May 2023 at 04:25 PM

At TaxNodes, we have an internal rate server that maintains a historical record of prices for more than 100 different cryptocurrencies. This enables us to convert the rates into our users' preferred fiat currency, which is the Indian Rupees (INR).

However, there may be some lesser-known cryptocurrencies that are not included in our list of 100+ assets. In such cases, if a user performs any transactions involving those tokens, our system may generate a 'Missing Rate' error.

While such errors are rare since we cover most of the popular cryptocurrencies listed on CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko, it is important to note that they can still occur.

In this example (refer above screenshot), while reviewing these transactions we found out that, one transaction, for LUNA token has a missing rate error. That is because LUNA token was forked and became into two blockchains LUNC and LUNA
