Proof of Work (PoW) is a consensus algorithm used by some blockchain networks to validate transactions and create new blocks. In PoW, miners compete to solve complex mathematical problems, with the first miner to solve the problem being able to create the next block and receive a reward in the form of cryptocurrency. This process is energy-intensive and requires specialized hardware, making it expensive to participate in.
